Projects & Initiatives
We connect people, purpose, and the planet—transforming learning into action to protect Earth's vital resources of air, water, land, and energy. Our projects and initiatives bring this mission to life by focusing on three critical areas: Biodiversity, Climate, and Pollution. Each initiative invites members and partners to take meaningful, measurable action that contributes to a healthier planet and stronger communities.
Project SkyBridge
Project SkyBridge is a global biodiversity initiative that connects individual habitat efforts into a powerful, collective impact. By registering native plant spaces, from a small balcony garden to large-scale community landscapes, participants help create a network of “stepping stones” that support pollinators and migratory species across regions and continents. This growing, interactive map transforms local action into a global biodiversity corridor.

Lunch out of Landfills
Reducing food waste is one of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Lunch Out of Landfills (LOOL) works with schools to recover unopened, nutritious food that would otherwise be discarded, redirecting it for student use or community benefit. By implementing simple systems like share tables and refrigeration, schools can significantly reduce waste while supporting sustainability and food access.

Montagua River Initiative
The Motagua River has become one of the largest sources of ocean plastic pollution in the world, carrying significant volumes of waste from inland communities to the Caribbean Sea. Rotary clubs across Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize are working together with partners to address this crisis through waste interception, improved waste management, community education, and environmental monitoring—including critical water testing efforts.
